HyperX Cloud Stinger vs Cloud Stinger Core: A Detailed Comparison

By Dr. Avi | Posted on May 7, 2021 | Last Updated on May 10, 2021

Since the market is filled with countless gaming headsets, it becomes difficult for you to choose the right one. Competing models from the same brand only make the selection process harder.

One such brand is HyperX Cloud. And it is usually the HyperX Cloud budget headphones that most people prefer to go with.

Two of its headphones that stand out for fierce competition are HyperX Cloud Stinger and Cloud Stinger Core. A brief comparison between the two can help you in making the right choice.

So without waiting further, let’s proceed.

Highlights of HyperX Cloud Stinger

For those with a tight budget, HyperX Cloud Stinger is one of the finest choices available.

Design

Despite its plastic build, HyperX Cloud Stinger does not feel cheap. The earpads are synthetic and yet comfortable to a good extent.

The microphone comes fixed and cannot be detached. The 3.5mm plug comes along with a cable that is almost 4 feet long.

Sound

Keeping in mind that it is a gaming headphone, HyperX Cloud Stinger plays music pretty well. The subwoofer bass effect is clearly missing but it gets along with lows and mids quite fairly.

Gaming Performance

With competitive mids and sub-bass, sounds like gunshots, voice commands, explosions etc are heard without difficulty. The average frequency in the sound enables the headphones to be played even at the highest volume.

The mic is also fairly decent and the voice chat can take place without much distortion.

Highlights of HyperX Cloud Stinger Core

HyperX Cloud Stinger gets tough competition from its sibling, the Cloud Stinger Core. Although slightly more expensive than the Stinger, the Cloud Stinger Core offers somewhat better features.

Design

The Cloud Stinger Core has soft padded ear cups which rest easily on the steel frame. The build is matte plastic but looks quite sturdy.

The headphones cannot be folded and hence might be a bit bothersome to carry. But as far as the comfort level goes, they are not at all disappointing.

Sound Performance

Just like the Cloud Stinger, the Cloud Stinger Core should not be preferred for music. This is not to say that the sound quality is poor.

In fact, the Cloud Stinger Core does a better job than most of the gaming headsets in its budget range. It’s just that the Cloud Stinger Core is not designed to serve the musical end.

Gaming Performance

For gaming, the Cloud Stinger Core is a very suitable candidate. The clarity in the audio for minute sounds is impressive and helps the gamer not miss out on any details.

The microphone helps in eliminating the distortions and does more than enough for voice chatting.

HyperX Cloud Stinger vs Cloud Stinger Core: Which One to Go for?

It all comes down to what you prefer. If your budget is tight then you should go for the Cloud Stinger. In terms of comfort and gaming performance, it does its job decently.

However, if you can spend more bucks and want a more dynamic sound quality then the Cloud Stinger Core will be the better option. It is sturdier and comes with a superior mic.

Hope this helps!
